The second canine cozy mystery in the King Harald series is coming ever closer to publication. And last week I finalized the cover art with designer Steve Thomas. Once again, my cover boy is Fiver—alas, no longer with us. I had two enjoyable backyard photo sessions with Fiver and there are enough good shots for a long series of books. I’m so grateful to Fiver’s “boss”—my friend Kelly—for allowing me to use his image.

This looks like King Harald to me. RIP Fiver.
Grand-dog sitting this weekend and she’s old, Jenna. Was looking at her just this am and thinking, I’ll miss her when she’s gone…probably within the year. Entire family will be sad and miss her but as always, we remember the good times our beloved pets bring us. She’s an Aussie sheepdog and smart as a whip. When younger she could roundup kids in a NY minute! And woof down a chicken leg in one movement, not taking time to chew.
Love forward to reading the second installment of King Harald. What a pup! (I call all doggies, puppies.)

Thanks for the comment, Cathy, and I agree. Fiver is who I see in my mind’s eye when I’m writing these stories. I’m eager to hear what you think of Harald and Andy’s new adventure.

What an honor to have Fiver immortalized in the King Harald series. He was a very good boy, and reading the books is like having a visit with him. Looking forward to adding the next one to my library!

We feel lucky to have known Fiver. Though a little camera shy, he proved to be a great cover boy!
